Minimalist Makeup

At least once a week, I try to give my skin a break from all the products I normally ply it with! It’s a good opportunity to let my face breathe, so I can avoid breakouts. Usually on Mondays, after a long and busy weekend, I go to work sans makeup – or should I say, sans the majority of my makeup, because I’m not quite confident enough to show up barefaced (props to you if you are!).

I start by applying my normal moisturizer, usually my Clinique Pep Start. Then, I add the lightest layer of BB cream. I love this matte one from Jouer. I’ll add a little rouge to my cheeks to just give my face a little bit of life. This Tarte Blush in Dollface is perfectly pink and gives you just the right amount of flush. Plus, it’s long wearing so it’ll stay put, even if you don’t have a ton of makeup underneath holding it in place. I swipe on a coat of mascara (I recently bought this Maybelline Colossal Mascara when I forgot to pack mascara & it’s a great drugstore find).  Finally, I top it all off with a some chapstick to keep my lips hydrated. Then I’m out the door.

I must say, it helps to have implemented this routine on Mondays, when I’m usually tired and have no desire to get ready. I’m done in about 5 minutes. It’s an added bonus that my skin gets a breather and refresh! Maybe someday I’ll be able go out into the world completely makeup free. Maybe.

    1. Thanks, Britt. Yeah the pep start has been a favorite of mine for a while now (this tub is almost empty!!). This is the only Jouer product I’ve tried, but it’s a good one. I used to use it as my foundation back in the day because I loved it so much.
